Not every partnership begins smoothly. When CVM first explored its relationship with Christian Veterinary Fellowship, there was uncertainty on both sides. Dr. Arthur Dorminy described it as “dancing around like courting flamingos.” What a wonderful image. Two organizations, trying to understand one another, testing assumptions, and exploring possibilities.
The best partnerships are not built on convenience; they are built on trust, and trust rarely arrives instantly. It grows through conversations, shared values, and mutual respect.
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:3
Great partnerships are built, not discovered. Friends, every one of us is part of a partnership far greater than ourselves. We partner with colleagues, supporters, churches, students, field workers, and veterinary professionals worldwide. Yet behind every relationship stands a faithful God, quietly weaving hearts, callings, and purposes together for His glory.
As we celebrate fifty years of CVM, may we never take these partnerships for granted. They are gifts of grace, forged through trust, strengthened through service, and sustained by a shared commitment to Christ and His mission.
Who knows, the partnership God is cultivating in your life today may become the very thing He uses to shape the next fifty years.
It's time to go and find some flamingos to dance with!
